South Carolina roads are in desperate shape; traffic congestion is unacceptable. In the past several weeks I have travelled to North Carolina, Georgia and Florida by car. Their roads are in great shape. I-95 is three lanes in each direction through Georgia and Florida. South Carolina should do the same. I was born and raised in South Carolina. When I was in kindgarten in 1969, I-26 and I-95 were two lanes in each direction. They still are. That is unacceptable and is hindering our economic growth. I am tired of my out of state friends complaining about our roads. Fix them. With gas prices low, this is the perfect time to permanently raise the state fuel tax. We need the revenue to fix our roads. You get what you pay for. I am willing to pay for good roads. Raise my gas tax by 20 cents a gallon. Road repair needs to be your and the General Assembly's first priority in January 2016. Let's get this done. Duncan Alford
