Good morning, My name is Barbara Priester and I was involved in an accident on 6/18 on I-26 westbound. There was a road crew from SCDOT working that morning. The worker was in the median inching along with his back toward the concrete median. Where the worker was located caused drivers to stop abruptly and swerve. This worker contributed to the accident that I was involved in that morning. The median is no more that 3 feet from the road and where the worker was located he was in a blind spot that drivers could not see him until almost upon him. That morning there was heavy traffic and after the accident occurred, I asked him "Why was he in the road" he replied "I wasn't, I was clearing debris". I called the office of SCDOT the following day to file a complaint and I was informed that he was allowed to be in the street during heavy traffic to clear debris and that the supervisor did not feel the worker did anything wrong. I strongly disagree! I called the Columbia office to file a complaint and I was forwarded back to the Charleston branch. I then left an message for Mr. Paul(843-740-1665) in which I have not received any follow up or call back. This message was left June 20th. I have since seen the SCDOT workers on I-26 and now have to take an alternate route to work due to the carelessness of these workers. I asked for that incident to be addressed and it has not, It is now apparent that that department had not intentions on addressing my complaint. I am not sure what can be done, but my complaint should have been addressed and not swept under the proverbial rug. Thank you for your time
