My children have been emotionally, mentally, and physically abused by their mother. She's been charged and arrested for the abuse but was able to have the charges dropped without even going to court and being confronted by her accusers. This custody case has taken a toll on my children and myself. My children have stated to attorneys, Dss caseworkers, teachers, guardian ad litems, school counselors, our pastor and family members and friends that they're terrified of their mother and afraid to be alone with her or her family members. Their statements were presented to the courts and yet the judge turned a deaf ear to it. These children are losing any hope of getting away from the abuse that their mother and her family subjects them to. My two sons were stripped down to their underwear and photographed by their mother and her family everts they had to visit. They were completely humiliated. They're 9 and 10 years old. My 13 year old daughter told counselors and the guardian ad litem that she'd rather committ suicide than to be around her mother. The judge didn't care stating that they needed their mother in their life. I strongly disagree. I feel that it should be mandatory in South Carolina that family court judges speak with children in these type of cases. I feel like the family courts feel that no matter how bad the mother treats the children she needs to be involved in their lives. I strongly disagree. The laws need to be changed to protect children better. Look at the case in Lexington where the dad killed his five children. Had Dss stepped in and took those children out of the situation they'd still be alive. Theres the story in the newspaper where the man beat his three year old daughter to death and was sentenced to life. Something has got to give with children being left in situations that's causing life long problems or death. My 13 year old daughter has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress and so have my two boys. The letters that they wrote for their therapists were heart breaking. My 10 year old son wrote ' That the physical pain goes away and hopefully as I grow older the mental and emotional pain will too'. They've witnessed too much at the hands of their mother and yet the judge wants to put these children in an in supervised situation with her. My ex wife blatantly stated on the stand that they had no intentions of following any court orders that they weren't worried with it. The judge basically said ok to them. My children get physically ill at the thought of having to be around their mother or her family. She lives in section 8 housing with drugs being sold out of her home and nine tier 2 and tier 3 sex offenders within a 1/8 of a mile from her home. My children are terrified. I'm asking and pleasing with you Ms.Haley to please help in this case and others before its too late for my children and other concerned parents and their children. I love my children and would die trying to protect them. Please help me and my children. Help the voices of these innocent children and all the innocent children of South Carolina be heard loud and clear in the family courts before its too late! Thank you for your time and consideration, Mr. Joseph Payton
