At that time the McGee family were residents of Sumter Township, living in an area called "Swimming Pens". We started celebrating our family beginnings back in 1994 by having our first Family Reunion in Sumter SC. where it all began. We have since continued to unite bi-annually in various cities throughout the United States, but we always make it a point to revisit our ancestral beginnings from time-to-time. This July 31st - August 3rd marks our 5th visit to your fair state and our 11th celebration of Family Ties. A great number of our family members still reside in Sumter and the throughout the state of South Carolina. My husband, siblings and I are original South Carolinians and intend to retire there. Governor Haley, I speak for all of my family members, when I say that we would be honored if you would write a Proclamation regarding The McGee Family Reunion because of it rich SC history and the family's continued support of SC. If this is inappropriate, we would be just as honored to receive a Congratulatory Letter. We would appreciate an original as well as one copy-ready for our souvenir booklets. Thank you so much for your consideration and your time.
