DMV worker charged with issuing false license

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Department of Motor Vehicles employee has been charged with conspiracy, forgery and altering a driver's license, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.

Tonia Elease Scott, 32, of Lugoff was arrested Tuesday.

Investigators say Scott helped someone get a license using false information, according to arrest warrants.

The forgery and conspiracy charges carry a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a fine to be determined by the court.

Altering a driver's license is a misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of six months in prison and a fine of $2,500.

None of the charges have a mandatory minimum sentence.
