Charleston, SC -

As he introduced his choice for Charleston’s newest chief of police, Mayor Joseph P.

Riley, Jr.

says he will run for another term as mayor.

He says he wasn’t planning on announcing his run so soon.  However, the newest Chief of Police will report directly to Mayor Riley.  He says he had assured Chief Gregory Mullen that he would seek another term as mayor.

Mayor Riley was first elected mayor in December of 1975.  He is currently serving his eighth term as mayor.
