Governor Haley,
I'm writing you today on behalf of my daughter, Casidee Nichols, who is a single parent.  The father of her child is not in their life and is forever behind on child support though it is supposed to be deducted from his check.  Since giving birth to her daughter in 2011, Casi has had a hard time keeping a job not because she is not a hard worker but because she can't afford child care.  She recently moved in with me in the Charleston area in the hopes that the job market would be better here.  She has been able to find employment but she has the same issue with Child Care.  Again, she has tried to apply for child care assistance.  However, she was told that at $9 an hour she made to much money to gain any assistance with child care.  Her child care bill is 48% of her gross income making it impossible for her to live on her own with her child.  Ironically if she quit her job and sat home she'd have child care, a welfare check and be given a place to stay.  She doesn't want to live on the government dime.  She just needs a hand up not a hand out.  I am assisting her as I can and as a mother it is extremely hard to see your child trying and getting depressed because she can't get ahead on her own.  I'm writing you today for help in assisting my daughter.  Please advise on what to do.
