Conduct bill gets passing grade
in House |
A bill requiring grades reporting on a
child's conduct in school gained key approval in the House
Wednesday.
Under the bill, students will get grades of
satisfactory, needs improvement or unsatisfactory on their report
cards.
Goose Creek Representative Shirley Hinson, a
Republican, says parents and students need that feedback.
The
bill won second reading approval with a 94 to five vote.
The
bill is expected to win routine third reading before heading to the
Senate. The Senate has given second reading to a similar bill, but
the legislation has not been taken up because the Senate is debating
the state budget.
Conduct grades are one element of Governor
Mark Sanford's legislative agenda.
