I am one of the coordinators for St. Mary Social Concerns Outreach in Rock Hill, SC. We serve the poor community and we see a lot of people who have no medical insurance. I am heart broken when someone comes in and is so sick and I cannot help them because they have no medical insurance or an income. Most of the people we help are not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare. I was called last night by a client that was rushed to the hospital because she was in so much pain. She was released and was told she has a cist on her ovary. I have spent all morning trying to get her help but because she has no insurance, homeless and no income they cannot help her. I called the local OBGYN, the health department, Social Services, the free clinic and I get the same answer. I do not know what to do now. Recently, I had a client that was in the same situation financially and needed Liver transplant and he just died two weeks ago. If you have any suggestions on how I can help this young lady and the people in Rock Hill, SC get the medical help they need,I would really appreciate it. I am very blessed to have medical insurance and I feel that the whole state of South Carolina should have this blessing. I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together to solve this problem. Sincerely, Denise McNeill St. Mary Social Concerns Outreach
