I am a single parent/ grandparent and a college graduate and unfortunately I lost my job a month ago, as a supervisor at a local store and now that I'm seeking employment all over again, it's impossible to pays bills with $7.25/hr. I am a faithful voter and also paid taxes for years, but when is South Carolina going to be able to gain employment and not live from paycheck to paycheck? Without minimum wage getting raised we will never get ahead. After having my lights disconnected and my vehicle repossessed and became very depressed, I applied for public assistance. I HAVE WORKED SINCE I WAS 15 YRS.OLD & THAT'S WHAT I AM ACCUSTOMED TO. ALL SOUTH CAROLINA NEED IS FOR MINIMUM WAGE TO BE RAISED SO WE CAN PAY BILLS, PROVIDE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND LIVE. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO FOR SOUTH CAROLINA AND THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO READ MY LETTER.
