The flag was moved from the State House dome, and placed where it stands today. So why are we debating the same issue fifteen years later? I respect your position on removing the Confederate Flag off the State House grounds, but the citizens of South Carolina who put you in office, didn't place you in office to express your feelings. You are in office to represent the citizens of South Carolina. Yes South Carolina has a jaded past. Some good, some bad, but it's still our heritage. If the flag is removed, then what? There's not a town in the state that doesn't have a Confederate memorial. Will those have to go as well? Will street names that are associated with the Confederacy be changed? Allow the citizens of SC to have their say by voting on the issue. The US is still considered a democracy, right?
