I am writing to see if anyone can help us or direct us to someone who can. My parents - Jack and Jackie Neil from Bamberg - are 87 and 85 years old. I believe my mother taught Governor Haley in the 4th grade in Bamberg. Our problem involves my parents' long term care insurance policy with Transamerica out of Cedar Rapids Iowa. My father has dementia that is a handful for my 85 year old mother, and we are trying to claim for the daily home care provision provided for in the policy. We have been contacting Transamerica for over a year, and we are getting no where. They have repeatedly sent us lists of providers to contact, and then when we find one that serves our small rural town - one on their list - Transamerica then claims they are not an approved provider. We have probably talked with them 30 times, getting different people and different excuses almost every time. When we ask for the last person we talked with, we often get "oh they don't work here anymore"... and then the "new" Transamerica person makes us start all over with "we'll send you a list of providers to check with". It's a shame that we are being forced to find an attorney... which will cost my elderly parents extra money they don't have. We have been fighting them well over a year. It's obvious that they are delaying us, hoping my father will die before they have to pay anything or honor the waiver of premium clause. I know she had more important things to deal with, but could you please run this by Governor Haley to see if she can direct us to somone who can help? Surely the state has insurance oversight folks who keep insurance companies honest. I'm sure we're not the only ones that Transamerica is cheating. Thanks for your time. Dwight Neil 162.193.24.240
