Killing coyotes in this manner will not help control the population long term. Yes, there will be an immediate reduction, but interlopers will fill the empty niche. Coyotes have a reproductive response to culls. I would much rather see this money spent on the educational needs of students in SC. Rated as 43 in the USA, the $12,000 would benefit all in your area. Students in the classroom could be educated on ways to coexistence with this predator in the wild. Without wolves, coyotes are here to stay. They are not filling the ecological role of top predator. Coyotes are very weary of humans and pose little to no threat. However, measures do have to be put in place to protect companion animals.
