Subject: Fwd: Visit to SC Senate and House

Katherine,
Thanks so much for your help on the Auctioneers Day proclamation.

I was not involved in this effort in the past--but, I know some previous governors have provided great support for auctioneers in South Carolina by using our visit to the House and Senate (this year April 23) as an opportunity for a brief visit and photo of the Governor signing the proclamation with the SCAA Board members present.

Do you think this would be a possibility for April 23?  The House convenes at 10 am and Senate at 11 am.  If Governor Haley is in town, we could meet earlier (9 am) or after, or whatever works for the Governor.

Our group would be so grateful if that brief meeting could be arranged.

FYI--everyone on the SCAA Board of Directors, including me, is a big Governor Haley fan!

I have been an S.C. Resident almost 15 years--and, no Governor in my history has done anything close to what Governor Haley has done to help improve our state.

Please let me know your thoughts when you have time.

Best Regards,

Merle

Mr. Sharick,

I have spoken with Katherine Thomas in the Governor’s Office regarding the proclamation.  The proclamation will proclaim Saturday, April 18th, as SC Auctioneers Day in conjunction with National Auctioneers Day, which is April 18th.

I have spoken with staff on the House desk and your group can be recognized from the balcony by a House member, possibly Rep. McLeod, and, they will also be introduced in the Senate Chamber by a member, Senator Cromer.  I would recommend either Tuesday, April 21st or Thursday, April 23rd as possible dates.  Both chambers meet at 12:00 noon on Tuesday April 21st.  Your group could go straight from one chamber to the other.  On Thursday, April 23rd, the House convenes at 10:00 AM and the Senate convenes at 11:00 AM.  You could be introduced in the House first and then make your way to the Senate for introduction when they convene at 11:00 AM.

Katherine’s email address is:  kthomas@oepp.sc.gov

Please touch base with me when your group determines a definite date so that I can get it on Senator Cromer’s calendar.  I will also contact Rep. McLeod if you would like for him to introduce your group in the House.  I know he would be delighted to do so.

In the meantime, please let me know if I may be of further service.

Amy

Amy,

Hate to bug you--any possible dates yet for SC Auctioneers Board members visit to the state Senate and House?  We have a Board meeting and I would like to offer some dates.  I reported at the last meeting that you were working to coordinate.

Thanks so much for your help!
