We are a great state, and the vast majority of our citizens try to follow Christian principles in our lives. I am a proud South Carolinian, but I ashamed of how our lawmakers want to treat helpless refugees who need love and support. I hope to see you speak out and be involved, and lead our state to a sensible, compassionate approach to the helpless people, fleeing violence, who seek refuge in our borders. Please find out the truth about the refugees who are in our state. I would like to invite you to come to dinner in my home, and share a meal with my family and the refugees we help sponor. Hear their stories, and get to know them. Please call me at 803-619-9589 and we'll arrange it. My friend JD Morris stated this well: The bill that passed yesterday in the SC senate makes me sad because it was written and passed by wolves in sheep's clothes. If it is put into action, anyone who sponsors a refugee could be held responsible for the actions of that refugee. But I will not stop helping refugees because refugees are not terrorists and they are not criminals. So I have nothing to worry about. Hold me responsible for their actions? Please do! Hold me responsible for their love and hard work. For the tax dollars they'll pay and their strict obedience to our laws. Hold me responsible for their determination to succeed In a system that makes it difficult. Hold me responsible for the joy they bring to this community. Hold me responsible for the amazing cultures they can teach us about. Hold me responsible for their unwavering faith in God. Hold me responsible for their generosity. Hold me responsible for the wisdom we will glean from them about living in community. Go ahead, South Carolina. I'll take the blame. Hold me responsible. Thank you for your consideration.
