I really do not know if my concern matters or not but I would like to inform you on some issues in Georgetown County Schools. First I believe that they are misusing funds, My younger brother he is a sixth grader at Georgetown Middle School and he is on an IEP because of his reading disability. I would like to know how is it that the school district can not provide recent textbooks for him and the rest of the school but they can afford new Chevy Tahoes and other new vehicles. My brother is in five classes and out of those five only one class he has a textbook and it is five to ten years old and him with a reading disability he needs textbooks to bring home. Also this new state test the ACT Aspire it ridiculous because some students especially the ones with IEPs will have a tough time taking it because they are not allowed to have help during the test. Most of the test the answers have to be written out and it is timed, my brother and others with IEPS and reading disability will have a very difficult time taking this test. I was also talking to different teachers and they agree that it will be difficult for the kids and they take it in April but after the test they still have two months left in school. I believe the state should use the MAP testing because they take it throughout the whole year and you can see improvements through that. I would greatly appreciate if you would look into these issues but I would understand if you are too busy.
