I am a citizen of South Carolina living in Beaufort County. I am college educated and have listened to the Beaufort County emergency response messages but still do not understand the criteria for whether they will be allowing us to return or not if we live in Beaufort and not the outlying islands. I am tired , have been away form home with long nights since Wednesday last week when as directed to leave. I only just moved to Beaufort but have lived 30 years in Florida and never had these difficulties in returning after a hurricane..with areas of far worse damage. My fear is that there is something they are not telling us like the water is contaminated....or worse... I work form home so this means I am unemployed until I can get home...I called emergency response number and it states you can go home unless you live on barrier islands due to bridge however they implied and I read online you can not go to your house you have to go to shelter and stay there if they don't let you back (however no one tells you what the criteria is to get in vs. staying in shelter) or you have to go to a hotel. I already missed a business trip which cost me money since I could not get home so could not make my Monday morning flight from Savannah...which I understand but I would rather not lose this whole week on a whim of whoever in charge wondering when I can go home. I truly don't want to cause trouble I just want a correct answer can I go home? and when? I think you may need to step in and assist Beaufort County on their emergency response process. Thank you Sincerely, Karen Wend 104.139.122.179
