"Alternative Fuels - Updates on State and Federal Initiatives"

COLUMBIA---The SC Agriculture Council (SCAC) fall meeting will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2002, at the Clemson University Sandhills Research & Education Center Lakehouse, Two Notch and Clemson Roads in Columbia, SC. Registration will begin at 9:30 AM followed by the program at 10:00 AM.

The focus of the meeting will be "Alternative Fuels - Updates on State and Federal Initiatives." Speakers will be Krysta Harden of the American Soybean Association and Jon Doggett of the National Corn Growers Association both in Washington, DC with federal prospectives on biodiesel and ethanol, respectively. Nikki Parris of United Energy Distributors in Aiken will provide the South Carolina prospective on alternative fuels.

Special thanks goes to the SC Soybean Board, National Corn Growers Association, American Soybean Association, and the United Soybean Board for assisting in sponsoring this event and the speakers.

The meeting also will include the Governor’s proclamation of Farm City Week and the election of the 2003 South Carolina Agricultural Council officers.

Advanced registration is $7 per person which includes lunch. Registration at the door is $10. A home-cooked Lowcountry Boil "Beaufort Stew" will be prepared by Wes Harris.
