I am a student at USC working on my senior research paper. Our assignment is to identify a local problem in our state and propose a practical solution. I chose our increasing problem of auto insurance fraud. I understand we have a relatively low budget for combating insurance fraud. I'm simply brainstorming how we could possibly address this growing problem. According to Attorney General Alan Wilson's Insurance Fraud Annual Report, he notes that insurers in SC pay over $223 million to the Department of Insurance through taxes and assessments. Where do these funds go and how are they used? I've looked online for a budget or some documentations that gives more detail about this, no luck thus far. If someone could point me to a link or website, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
