I have been here 13 years. I continue to watch law enforcement lose the battle on drugs. They know where they are doing this stuff from but for whatever reason they are unable to stop them. I manage a pawn shop and see on a daily basis the effects drugs have on our community. They steal and bring items here to support their habit. We are very proactive in not taking items that appear to be stolen. Mopeds are being used to run drugs in and out of dirt roads. Prostitutes walk free up and down the road. It is all confined to a small area and maybe that is why they are left alone. It is a shame that I see this coming and going to work and lunch everyday. I see it and no one can do anything about it. The magistrate judges give them a smack on the hands and they are back out on the street. I also know that 1 out of every three of our customers that are driving have no license. Our officers here are good people. I help them on a regular basis chasing down stolen property even if I can only point them in the right direction. They work hard. We need stiffer penalties and I urge you to look at the moped laws again. They are being used to run drugs and circumvent a DUI. This is unacceptable and dangerous. Thank you for your time.
