This is commonly known as the "jake brake" and is extremely loud. If you google the term jake brake, you can see all of the articles talking about how annoying this is to residents and even cities that have banned the use of this practice. I live in an apartment next to I-20 where the speed drops before entering Augusta, GA. I have contacted the DOT about moving or changing the speed limit signs in the area, but nothing was changed. I have contacted my State representative Bill Hixon as suggested by Haley's office after my first email. His response was basically deal with it since he could hear it as well at his home. I refuse to accept that as the answer. There are several ways to fix this issue and yet, no one has taken the initiative to help. Do I need to go door to door in the apartment complex and the surrounding neighborhoods to start a petition? There are noise ordinances in place for cars, loud music, yelling, etc., so why not this? Using the jake brake is louder than any those items listed, but continues to be ignored and flying under the radar. Please do something to stop this annoying loud noise!!! Thank you, James Paull
