Aug. 12 deadline for Pee Dee Station Site WMA dove hunt
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources and the S.C. Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) announce a public drawing for the opening day of dove season (Sept. 3) at the Pee Dee Station Site Wildlife Management Area Public Dove Field in Florence County. The draw requirement is an effort to improve the quality of the hunt and enhance the satisfaction of the participants. A legible application is required to be submitted by 5 p.m. Aug. 12.
Applications for this hunt and other drawn dove hunts are available online or by calling (803) 734-3609. Up to four people can apply together for this hunt. One hundred and twenty (120) hunters will be computer drawn to hunt at the Pee Dee Station public dove field on opening day. The hunt will begin at 12 p.m.
All applicants will be notified of selection status and mailed a notice by Aug. 23. If selected for the hunt, each participant must keep the notice in their possession at all times while on the field during opening day of dove season. Hunt permits are not transferable.
Contact the Columbia DNR Office at (803) 734-3886 or Florence at (843) 661-4768 for additional information on this hunt or additional dove hunting opportunities.
