South Carolina could find itself on the big screen more often if
lawmakers approve measures to attract filmmakers to the
state.
Representative Shirley Hinson
introduced legislation on Thursday that would increase the state's rebate
on film wages and in-state production expenses from 15 percent to 30
percent. Those incentives would be capped at 10 million dollars for
payroll and 7.5 million dollars for goods and
services.
Film industry publisher
Tommy Melton says the state could attract four to six new feature films if
lawmakers approve
the
incentives.
