Box 291405 Columbia SC 29229 info@Mom4Moms.org 8038076965 PROC Diaper Needs Awareness Week 167.7.148.10 It's a great day in South Carolina! Mom4Moms is requesting a Proclamation for Diaper Need Awareness Week. Diaper Need Awareness Week is an initiative of the National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) created to mobilize efforts to help make a difference in the lives of the nearly 5.3 million babies in the U.S. aged three or younger who live in poor or low-income families. Diaper need affects the health of babies, employment of mothers, and the outcome of raising physically and mentally healthy children. Existing safety-net programs such as WIC and food stamps do not cover diapers. With the cost of diapers averaging $100 per month per child, many mothers struggle to afford the diapers their children need to stay healthy and be able to attend daycare. Mom4Moms, a 501c3, provides assistance to homeless and low-income single mothers and babies (newborn to 36 months) in Columbia, SC in the form of a week's supply of disposable diapers, wet-wipes, ointment, and gently used clean clothing and baby items as donations permit. The objective is that by the end of the year, 500 diaper packages will have distributed to mothers and babies in need. In turn, improving prenatal education of low-income mothers and opportunities to obtain gainful employment. We would be more than honored if our Governor would proclaim September 28-October 4, 2015 (dates will vary by a day or two each year), Diaper Need Awareness Week.
