next
By Tonya Root The Sun News
Carl Anderson garnered enough support to win Tuesday's Democratic
primary for the S.C. House District 103 seat.
After counting was complete in Georgetown and Williamsburg
counties, Anderson had received 2,820 votes to Morris Johnson's 778
votes.
Both are Georgetown County residents.
In Georgetown County, Anderson received 2,214 votes and Johnson
got 666.
The winner will face incumbent John "Bubber" Snow, a Williamsburg
County resident who was a Democrat before recently switching to the
Republican Party, in the November general election. Snow has held
the seat, off and on, for 22 years.
"I am looking forward to victory in November," Anderson said. "I
just hope the Democrats will come out and vote in November and we
will keep that seat. I want to go to Columbia and be the voice of
the people of District 103."
Morris did not immediately return telephone calls Tuesday
night.
House District 103 includes most of western Georgetown County and
a small part of Williamsburg County.
Johnson, a former member of Georgetown County Council, spent 33
years as an International Paper Co. employee.
Anderson is a minister and ran the family business, Anderson
Furniture & Appliance Co., for 19 years.
He is a licensed insurance agent.
