I called several post offices to schedule an appointment to have my children's passports renewed, and I was told that I wouldn't be able to have an appointment until mid July - August. I am not surprised that the wait times are outrageously long after the 2 experiences which occurred today relating to passport renewal at local post offices. It seems to me that the government employees are doing a fantastic job at being very lazy! For example, North Charleston has "walk-in" passport renewal services. I called before I went to make sure they did accept walk-ins; they confirmed they did. The problem is that I was told that they closed at 2:00 and they would not be able to accommodate me. When I told the "supervisor" that the website stated the post office closes at 4:00, she told me she would not be able to accommodate me because there "might be a very long line." I then asked her if there was a long line and she said "no." Despite no line and 2 hours before closing, she told me she would not be able to renew my children's passports (all documents were already filled in and the entire application was complete and ready to go!) The second experience is too long to convey by email. Is anyone aware of this problem?
