Free Staters recruit angry residents in South Carolina town

(Concord, New Hampshire-AP) Dec. 16, 2003 -- The Stratford High School drug sweep has made Goose Creek the first target of a New Hampshire-based freedom-minded advertising campaign.

The Free State Project says, whenever it thinks government has overstepped its bounds, it will run ads that say, "Come to New Hampshire, we don't have this problem."

The first ad will run Wednesday in a weekly newspaper in Goose Creek, where police ordered more than 100 students to the floor and restrained some with plastic handcuffs in the November 5th raid. No drugs were found.

The project aims to bring 20,000 liberty-minded people to New Hampshire to work for smaller government and greater individual liberties. It has reached about 6000 people who say they are committed to moving to New Hampshire.
