(Columbia) April 11, 2005 - The Put Parents in Charge bill goes to the full House Ways and Means committee Tuesday.

WIS has learned that in the meeting Florence Representative Jim McGee is going to introduce an amendment that would use a voucher system instead of a tax credit.

If that amendment passes, parents with a child in a school labeled unsatisfactory for two straight years would get money up front to send their child to another public or private school. Under the current plan families would receive a credit on their state income taxes.

Tuesday night, there will be a public hearing 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the cafeteria at Logan Elementary School.
