COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Gov. Mark Sanford has replaced Greenville lawyer and environmental activist Brad Wyche as the head of the board that oversees the state's health and environmental agency.
Sanford on Tuesday appointed Charleston businesswoman Elizabeth M. Hagood to lead the state Department of Health and Environmental Control board.
Wyche was appointed by Democratic Gov. Jim Hodges.
Hagood helped lead Sanford's Quality of Life Task Force.
She also served six years as executive director of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust and is currently on the organization's advisory board.
Hagood received her undergraduate degree at Davidson College and has a graduate business degree from University of Virginia, as does Sanford.
