I am not a citizen of SC but my son, daughter-in-law and 3 granddaughters live in Myrtle Beach. And, of course, we visit often. Over the years, Biker Week has become more and more violent and destructive. I think it would be advantageous to Myrtle Beach to cancel it, especially in light of the violence against law enforcement and first responders in general. Any economic contribution it may have added at one time has surely been lost over the years. With the threat of violence comes the possibility of having outside rabble rousers come in and ignite any little problem that may arise. I am very concerned for my family during that week. Of course, they dare not leave, for fear of their property being damaged or destroyed. There is no way we would ever go to Myrtle Beach during Biker Week (heaven forbid there would be a family emergency at that time) and I know that is true for many MB-goers we know. It has become just plain dangerous. I cannot imagine the bikers stimulate the MB economy, but rather COST the city and state tens of thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Please give serious consideration to cancelling Biker Week, at least for this year! Thank you for your consideration and for your service to South Carolina. God bless you.
