Governor Hodges announces Steering Committee of Technology Transition Team
Columbia, S. C. - Governor Jim Hodges today announced the Steering Committee members of his Technology Transition Team.

"We've assembled a diverse team to help South Carolina make the transition from the Old Economy to the New Economy," Hodges said.

The Steering Committee of the Technology Transition Team consists of business leaders, technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and leaders of South Carolina's research universities. Last month, Governor Hodges named Harry M. Lightsey III, president of BellSouth South Carolina, to lead the Technology Transition Team.

The Technology Transition Team will promote the close cooperation of community and business leaders on technology issues. It will tap into the resources of South Carolina's research universities. The team will examine the potential of current and emerging technologies. The team will also develop a comprehensive strategy to bring high tech firms to South Carolina and grow local technology start-ups.

"I am impressed by the outpouring of interest in our Technology Transition Team," Hodges said. "The first order of business for the Steering Committee will be to tap into this network of South Carolinians committed to technology."
