Please remove the rebel flag from government buildings--perhaps outlaw its display completely.  As a battle flag from the Civil War, it represents the South's desire to secede and defeat the union.  I believe that constitutes treason.  Definition: trea·son
'trez?n/ noun, the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.
Wasn't the south trying to overthrow the UNITED states in the confrontation?  In my research, I also learned the following: "William Tappan Thompson, the flag's designer, used a different nickname for the flag, calling it "The White Man's Flag".  It has grown to represent separateness, white supremacy and become a symbol to hold up racism as justifiable.
You have a chance to do one small thing to try to appease all those throughout the United States who are repulsed by this gesture of desperately dated symbol of all things evil, as surely as a Swastica has that same iconic symbology.
