Solutions for Immigrants and Asylum Seekers 24.62.0.106 Your Honor, I am an "unenrolled" voter in Massachusetts - that's our commonwealth's listing for independent voters. I appreciated to large extent your comments in last night's Republican response to the state of our Union. It struck me that your concerns about fixing the broken immigration system addressed primarily a limited group of people. Having done volunteer work with "illegals" in Minnesota, I was impressed that many of these people work in horrendous conditions that corporations don't pay enough to make American citizens willing to do the work (e.g., slaughter and meat packing houses). Corporations such as these are exploiting people and subverting lawful immigration. And what are your ideas for addressing the migration of unaccompanied children and women seeking refuge from rape and slavery? Deportation cannot be the answer! I would like to hear your ideas specifically and how you can influence not just the debate nationally but the creation and installation of solutions. Yours respectfully, Garland S. Alcock, M.D.
