State Attorney General Henry McMaster says he is closing the grand jury investigation of the collapse of Carolina Investors.

The investigation has been going on for 36 months. The investigation has resulted in 6 indictments, with 4 convictions and 2 pending trials.

About 8,000 investors, most of them from the Upstate lost $278 million in the 2003 collapse or Carolina Investors and its parent company HomeGold. 

McMaster called the investigation the largest and most complex white collar investigation in South Carolina history.
