Briggs Briggs 1961 107 Milton street GREENWOOD SC 29649 briggsd61@yahoo.com 8435687924 8435687924 VET Former Captain Luis Carlos Montalvān of the US Army 24.49.177.71 Dear Govenor Haley; I am writing to you with a request in reference to Former Captain Montalvān. He has written several books but the one that captured the attention of a lot of people is Until Tuesday, A Wounded Warrior And The Golden Retriever Who Saved Him.Mr. Montalvān has traveled upon request to different States of the US as a guest speaker, a great Ambassador for our Military and our soldiers and the sacrifices they make everyday for our freedom. I am requesting assistance in getting him here to SC preferably Greenwood, SC to have the honor meeting him for one but to give everyday people to meet a highly decorated Former Army Captain and his Service dog Tuesday. He reads his children's book to any children attending and everyone gets the honor of meeting them personally. I have called the local Veterans Affairs Office 3 times directed to 3 different staff members but until today had not received as much as a phone call. I had a return call today but was not available at that time to speak with that person. Hopefully will today and be able to get some assistance. I have tried contacting the American Legion but not even a return call and the local library no one available to even discuss this until next week. It's all disappointing being this is an Army Veteran. In conversations with Mr. Montalvān an organization has to invite him here to Greenwood.I also have a personal interest in meeting him, back in 2004 he escorted the body of a fellow Soldier to Fort Carson where Captain Joshua Byars was stationed, then Josh's body was brought here to Laurens, SC to be buried in a small church cemetery with his family. The Byars family was very close to my family and I watched Josh grow up the rest 12 years of his life then following his life through his parents until 2004 when he was killed in Iraq by an IED. If there is any assistance I can get from you to help me get Mr. Montalvān here would be greatly appreciated.
