I am a businessman from Greenville, SC who still runs and operates multiple family owned private businesses. I am trying to open a new one in the waterworks supply business with a partner who has operated a waterworks company for over 15 years that has recently been sold by its owner to a giant national company. I could go into all the details of why we want to be in business, but my problem is that we are being "blackballed" from buying from the manufacturers. We can not get any product line to sell because management of several of the national distributers are telling the manufacturers that they can't sell to us. The manufacturer representatives are telling us this. Is this not illegal? We just want a chance to make something for our families and these national chains are keeping us from it. I have never been in a situation where I couldn't sell something. I don't know how to fight Corporate America. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.
