It has been 4 months now, his leave has ran out and now he is on Workman's Compensation and unable to return to light-duty. Today, his Corporal came to our home and picked-up his service weapons, laptop, credentials, including his badge. He has now been removed from active service until he can return to work full-time. This means, no mandatory raise in July, or will he be in his class for promotions for lack of time in service. This doesn't seem fair to subject an officer who was a victim of an accident, no fault of his own, to be subjected to these rules. I read the Workman's Compensation Law and it says nothing about being removed from "Active" status. This has my husband really distraught and downright broken-hearted. All the work and training he did to become a SC State Trooper, to have it stripped away because of something he had no control over. Is this the way we treat those who lay down their lives for us? Please provide me with some understanding in this matter, something I can tell him where he doesn't just decide to give up on his dream of being a trooper and move on to something else. Thank you
