The art school is a public school that serves 750 students. The school's price tag is 31 million dollars. They promised to put it in a central location, and they put it in an upper middle class new neighborhood further away from east county. I am a student and will have to drive further for this "central" location. They put the school there for high income people while neglecting lower income people. They are serving transplant wealthy and ignoring the needs of the locals. This is a public school paid for by tax payers of all incomes, and now my daughter gets to invade some rich neighborhood for the sake of new development. The roads are two lane country roads going to a public school. The traffic here in Summerville is unbelievably like Los Angeles, CA. We have a banker selling mortgages and a real estate developer's wife on the school board, and our super intendant is on the board of Heritage Trust Bank. I believe there is a conflict of interest--real estate sales on tax payers dollars. The new school should not server the wealthy, but rather the entire community.
