<WFUD_Request>I am writing regarding child support for my granddaughter Selah G. Springs. Darrian Brooke Leon was ordered to pay child support 3 years ago and has yet to make a voluntary payment. The IRS took the money from her tax refund. However, I won't receive it till September because they're giving her spouse 6 months to dispute it. I realize that they need to be fair to the spouse but 6 months is ridiculous. I am outraged that the spouse is being put before the care of the child. I could understand sending the spouse a letter and giving him 2 weeks but 6 months?? How is that in the best interest of the child? Furthermore, if it's less than half of the refund amount I don't believe it should be an issue. If a married couple receives $5,000 it should be divided in half, $2,500 per spouse. If the child support owed is less than $2,500 is shouldn't be disputable. Where does the concern for the child come in to play? This is ludicrous. I called and the child support balance dropped $972 but I received no payment. I'm thinking great a payment was made. Only to find out that the NCP gets credit but I get no money for 6 months to allow the spouse time to dispute it. This law is not FOR the child, it's for the spouse at the cost of the child. This needs to he looked at because it's not in favor of the child. The child should come first.</WFUD_Request>
