I graduated from College in 1989 and I am still paying on my $15,000 student loan. The balance is now a little more than $26,000 due to late fees and partial forbearance. This amount is more than half of my salary. Even though I work for the University of South Carolina I am unable to qualify for the public service loan forgiveness program. The guidelines state that applicants must make current payments each month for 10 years in order to qualify. I have always paid my debts and I hope your staff may have some useful information for me regarding this situation. Thank you, Allyson Martin
