I am deeply saddened by your decision to remove the Confederate Battle Flag from the State Memorial Grounds. It is with deep regret that I inform you that you will no longer have my support unless you agree to send this matter to the People of South Carolina for a vote. I feel that a matter such as this should only be weighed and measured by the fine people of this State, the same by which you were elected. Please consider my request, as it is also the opinion of every person, of all races, for whom I have spoken with concerning the matter. Furthermore Ma'am, if you must move forward, I only ask that you publicly divulge the true nature and history of this flag without prejudice or bias, but rather the symbology from whence it was derived and to honor ALL of the races that served under it, in the name of Constitutional Freedom and for the cause of protecting our Constitutional Rights over Federal Oppression. Thank you for your time. May God bless you and your family.
