I am a 58 year old single woman.  I have worked over 20 years as a Physician Manager. I was laid off my job because the independent physician that I worked for for over 8 years felt the practice that I opened for him could no longer afford me. My  problem is not only has my unemployment run out. I have not even been contacted once for an actual interview. I have been told that the exact same job I was hired for 10 years ago that there were others more qualified. I have applied for many any jobs with many organizations . This leaves me with no conclusion other than I am being discriminated against because of my age.  I was making over 60,000 a year and have been making that much for years. I have a mortgage to pay and can not live on a 10.00 an hour job. That would not even pay my health insurance. I have worked so hard to own an home with the hopes of one day paying it off.  I guess that will not happen now.  I have exhausted my savings. I will probably loose my home. I have a great credit rating but at 10.00 an hour I would be surprised if I could rent an apartment or even afford one.  I have no family at all that could help me.  So please when you brag on the news how low the unemployment rate is in SC please remember the people like me.  Most of those jobs that are coming will be for labors, or will require a degree which I  don't have and never needed for the job I have done. My experience cannot even be considered if my application never a moves on once they see the year I graduated high school. That information gives alone gives my age. The online applications will not even go through if that field is not filled in, they might as well ask my age. And some sites actually have.  However having a degree is not the issue the real issue my age is because all the jobs I have applied for I have more than met the qualifications.
