I have contacts in the entertainment industry. Most recently with the successful show Homeland that used to be filmed in Charlotte, NC. The film industry tax incentives for NC expired and just about everything in Chartlotte is being packed up and shipped out. While SC has decent film incentives they are fixed each year. If those incentives were increased I am being told it would be a boon for the state and many many projects would come to the state. The timing of an increased tax incentive could not come at a better time now that NC crews familiar with the region are in transition. Once they leave the region it could be much more difficult for them to come back. This Production Manager ( in charge of finances for production) recently sent me the following: "We want her to make a special session to up the amount. Send the word out to our industry that SC is open for business. I believe the whole NC crew base would flock there"
