Ms. Priester,
Thank you for expediting a response to the invitation for Governor Haley. I am disappointed, yet understand that she is a busy person. We would appreciate a letter sent on her behalf to read for the volunteers. Again thank you for considering the request.
Kind regards,
Tammy

Ms. Finney,
Thank you for extending an invitation to Governor Haley to attend and serve as the keynote speaker for the annual Dorn VA Medical Center Volunteer Appreciation Banquet on April 14, 2016. Governor Haley appreciates your kind consideration, but regrettably the Governor’s schedule on that date will not permit for her to attend due to a scheduling conflict that evening. If it would permit, Governor Haley would be happy to send a letter to be read at the event. Please let me know and I will be sure you receive the letter in time for the event.
Take care,
Nicole

Subject: Requesting Governor Haley as Keynote Speaker 4/14/16
Good Morning Ms. Priester,
I was referred to you by Mr. Howard Metcalf to request the presence of our esteemed Governor Nikki Haley to be the keynote speaker for the annual Dorn VA Medical Center Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, April 14, 2016, 6p-8p. Last year we had the pleasure of Lt. Governor McMaster accepting our invitation as keynote speaker for greater than 200 volunteers in attendance. This year is the 70th anniversary of Voluntary Service supporting and enriching the lives of the Veterans.
National Volunteer Week is April 10th - April 17th and across the nation all Veterans Affairs facilities schedule an appreciation celebration for their volunteers. At the end of the week a formal report is forwarded to Central Office in Washington, D.C. outlining a list of activities and our community as well as Congressional supporters.
Our volunteers are dedicated men and women that range from 13 to over 90 years of age. They give their most precious commodity; their time to demonstrate appreciation to our nation’s heroes. Several of our volunteers are Veterans who serve in wide array of assignments to give back to their comrades and have greater than 20,000 hours. This year as a part of our program, we will have a presentation for our special education volunteers from the Heyward Career and Technology Center. These young adults may have cognitive challenges, but it does not hinder the big heart and hard work that they display on a daily basis as they serve the Veterans..
We understand that Governor Haley may not be able to remain for the duration of the program due to prior commitments, but if she is available to bring a brief 15 to 20 minutes message of thanks and encouragement to the good citizens of the South Carolina; we would be forever indebted. If any additional information is required, please feel free to contact me. Thanking you in advance for considering the above request and it is a “Great Day in South Carolina”.
Kind Regards,
