I realize you all are surely busy. I am managing editor of Christian Standard, a 150-year-old magazine for paid and volunteer leaders in Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. I am writing to request a photo I've seen online taken by Rob Godfrey, Deputy Chief of Staff (Communications and External Affairs). The photo is of South Carolina state trooper/director of public safety Leroy Smith helping a white supremacist overcome by heat at a Confederate flag protest. We would like to use the photo with a column written by Jim Tune headlined "Love and Reconciliation." We can pay up to $100 for use of the image. In his column, Tune touches on several civil rights matters through the years, and concludes by describing Mr. Godfrey's photo. He quotes Mr. Smith as saying he thinks the image moved people/touched people for one simple reason: Love. "Imagine if we simply focused on acts of love?" Tune concludes. "Even love for our enemies. I think it would go viral." You can see why this image would be so helpful in illustrating Tune's column. Can you help? If you can e-mail a high-res (300 ppi) version of the image to me, it need only be about 2.5 inches wide. We will give attribution/credit. We need the image by the end of next week (July 29). Thank you very much! -- Jim Nieman
