Sunday may get messy
Upstate dodged winter's worst Thursday

The Upstate escaped Thursday's winter storm with little damage, but the Weather Service said residents can expect more wintry mix Sunday.

The area got 0.13 inch of precipitation -- some frozen -- Thursday, said Patrick Moore, a National Weather Service spokesman. The first hour was sleet, then it morphed into freezing rain, he said.

Today and Saturday, high temperatures may get into the 50s, but Moore said there still could be patches of ice on the road early today.

He said residents could see sleet or rain Sunday, depending on the time the storm arrives.


Slick roads: The Pete Hollis Bridge on the Western Corridor was partially shut down Thursday morning until a Department of Transportation truck spread sand on the pavement after several cars crashed on the icy road. For more storm photos, go to:
