Box 6, 498 Log Branch Rd. Bamberg SC 29003 claryk@bellsouth.net 803-245-3021 803-383-1055 Dear Nikki, I am writing about the Medicaid Brokerage system handled by DHHS. I know that you have people that handles these things, but DHHS has gotten so out of hand. They have fired any and everyone that knew anything about how transportation works in the state. They drew up a RFP/Procurement from several areas that have no idea how transportation works, have made it impossible for any RTA or Council on Aging to make ends meet, and NOW have chosen a new Medicaid Broker that handles less than 5 counties per state. Logisticare has done a great job, has gone above and beyond what DHHS has asked of them, and they drop them without ANY hesitation, no matter what providers in the state want. While what is outlined in the RFP may put some individuals to work, it will also put a lot of people OUT of work. I am very concerned about how this is going to affect my agency, but the state and the recipients as well. We would love to have a meeting with you on this, but know how stretched everyone's time is. Logisticare has protested, and everything is now on hold. I ask (beg) that you just look into this before the protest is over and the final word is spoken. We do not want the same mistake as the state made before bringing AMR in our state, and having to change things 4 months later. It cost us over 10,000-15,000 every time a change is made. The saying, "Don't fix what isn't broken" applies here. Please look into this while in protest for our states sake. Thank you, Kay Clary Bamberg County Office on Aging Bamberg, SC 108.230.137.70
