The announcement came with an applause
that couldn't be loud enough considering GE Energy has had quite a
few ups and downs battling a fickle economy. Susan Hyde has
worked for GE for 15 years. A slumping economy hit home
when her husband was laid off. More jobs couldn't come soon
enough.
"I think it's fantastic. It's
especially good news for this area," said Hyde.
GE is adding roughly 350
high-skilled employees to its Greenville site over the next two
years. It's investing $120 mil over the next 15
years.
"These are going to be high paying
jobs as well and that will be good for many different areas
including retail," said Governor Mark Sanford.
The new employees will make anywhere
from $60,000 to $100,000 per year.
