South Carolina Conservation Bank reviews revenues at recent meeting
The South Carolina Conservation Bank conducted another successful Board meeting on Nov. 6. For fiscal year 2013-2014 the Bureau of Economic Advisors estimated the Conservation Bank’s revenues to be roughly $7.8 million. The Conservation Bank’s revenues from the Documentary Stamp Tax have steadily increased over the past year. The General Assembly therefore approved a budget of $9.8 million allowing the Conservation Bank to further strive to complete its mission of protecting and preserving the vital resources which make South Carolina a special place.
Overall, twenty new properties were approved by the Board to be funded during the upcoming fiscal year. The new approved grants have a total of over 12,400 acres combined for an average cost per acre of $570. These new grants, joined with the previously approved grants since the Conservation Bank’s inception back in 2002, will raise the total acreage conserved mark to over 200,000 acres to date. The Conservation Bank works with the various land protection agencies across the state and voluntary landowners in South Carolina to conserve these important tracts for the benefit of all South Carolinians for years to come.
Chairman Weston Adams stated that South Carolina is very fortunate to have many landowners in our state that care about protecting our significant lands for our future and our children’s future.
The next application deadline is January 31, 2014.
