At every turn we were told that we had to wait for two more months for some sort of action or status. The latest we've heard is that a request for status update has again been sent to the United Kingdom and again we must wait two months. It's been registered with the Bristol UK Family Court since July 15, 2015 and with the exception of garnered 2013 tax return there has been no support as of this date. The last information from the UK was that a hearing would be held in the UK with the father on 27 February 2016, we have still not heard anything that would in any way appear to be a status of this case. A story from the website "The Nerve" stated that since the new Head of DSS came on board she has added five new positions paying $100,000 or more, has herself gotten raises amounting to $4,200. I would also bet that bonuses have been paid to those responsible to resolve this case. Based on all this I would like to ask the following questions: In the day and age of internet, online meetings, email, text, phone and jet travel why is there a DSS wait policy of two months necessary for each and every step and re-step? Can't DSS be more proactive and less reactive? Is it really believable to a reasonably intelligent individual that it is necessary for a fourteen year of child of the Great State of South Carolina to have to wait this long (3years) and still not get the support to enjoy the necessities of life? Especially since Performance bonuses have probably been paid to those responsible for the lack of timely action. Can the awarded Bonuses and some part of those $100,000+ salaries be redirected to my Granddaughter and the other children in the same situation for their support? Would it not be a good idea to have cases such as these periodically reported to the Director of DSS, Legislative oversight committees and you with details as to what is being done to resolve the problems along with completion dates? Would it not be a good idea to have a line item in the DSS managers Performance Reviews to address cases such as unresolved child support? Jim Dixon North Charleston 71.204.237.30
